Wet &Windy day at Pitsford Reservoir, Northampton, saw a good turn out of the four fleets that participated. Asymmetric / Non Asymmetric Single Handed / Non Asymmetric Double Handed / Youth The race officer certainly had a sadistic streak, as the course that he set had three gybe marks, which meant great entertainment for the spectators in the warmth of the clubhouse. Shane MacCarthy the reigning Enterprise Inland Champion sailing with Johnny Mildred in a Fireball, finished first overall in the Non Asymmetric Double Handed Class with an excellent 1 & 2 in the two races. Ten Enterprises took to the water for the first race in very challenging conditions. There were many capsizes throughout the race with our past and present Commodores Jonathon / Barry practising their capsize skills. Nigel Bird / Katie Dolling led the fleet at the finish closely followed by Ant Clay / James Holmes with Martin Honnor / Simon Haighton in third place. After lunch only seven intrepid Enterprises set off for the start of the second race, which saw a repeat performance from Nigel /Katie in first place, Ant / James second, closely followed by Paul Young / Richard Craddock. At the end of the day only Nigel & Paul escaped the dreaded capsize, and the general feeling was the cob webs had been blown away ready for the start of the new season. |
